The big day
The longest day
We had our 10 family members and friends flown to Rome and they spent 3 days with us touring the city and its beautiful sights and it all led up to our big day.
On the day itself Morten and I went to a nice quite cafe and ate breakfast.
After the best espresso and Cannoli this planet has to offer, we went back to the hotel and started to get ready.
Morten took his clothes and shoes and went to his best man Jacob, to change.
Of course, the best man wasn’t there, cause he was so fascinated touring around Rome, that he forgot about being there for his best friend… so after running around in the hotel corridors for an hour, he luckily ran into his brother, who let him change inside his room.
At 12:30 our wedding planner arrived together with a makeup artist and a hairdresser, and then they went to work with me.
Italians take great pride in their appearance, and both the make-up artist and hairdresser were very skilled and made sure that I looked beautiful.
My childhood friend, Fie, came into my room and we chatted and relaxed until our guests and Morten had to leave.
As the time neared 15:00, they finished with the hair and makeup, and helped me to get into my dress. Finally I put my beautiful long veil on, like icing on the cake.
My father knocked on the door, and he was clearly very moved by the fact that his only daughter were about to get married. We waited in excitement for the clock to turn 15:30, so we could leave for the church.
Our beautiful car (Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud 1956) was waiting for us outside the hotel, with the driver standing beside it and together with a bunch of curious people. It was really a fun experience to get this much attention from a lot of strangers who all wished us the best and took pictures of us (or maybe the car, I don´t know).
My dad and our driver helped me into the car and we drove through Rome on the way to church. People shouted congratulations and stood in front of the car to take pictures of us, every time we stopped at a red light.
We finally reached the church at 16:00, and our photographer and video guy stood ready.
The music started, and my proud father led me down the aisle.
Our guests stood at the front row and Morten at the altar, along with our 4 witnesses. I never saw Morten look so good in his beautiful suit, and I must honestly admit, I was totally lost in him.
My father gave my hand to Morten, and the priest asked us to sit. The ceremony went ahead, and instead of traditional hymns, they played the classical music we had chosen. It was all incredibly beautiful and touching.
The ceremony
The ceremony was conducted in English. At the beginning of the ceremony, we both lit a candle (as a symbol of us being individuals) and later, we lit a single candle light together.
A few of our guests read appropriate passages of the Bible chosen by the priest and the priest spoke of love and unity.
We read our promises and then put the rings on.
.
Now we were finally married!
Time for congratulations and lots of hugs.
We had pictures taken and were filmed in front of the altar.
Morten and I went out of the church to the tunes of Mendelssohn's wedding march, and our guests threw rose petals at us (and blew soap bubbles) in front of the church.
Our guests went back at the hotel for relaxing and getting ready for dinner.
